Module Nine - Blog: Video Reviews

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I choose the videos the video “ The Power of Art: Caravaggio ” because, it talks about the passion that the artist has for his body of work. I also picked the video “ The Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC ”, I mainly decided on this because of it length, it being the shortest video. 2 . For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The keys concepts I learned from “The Power of Art: Caravaggio” are that; the artist never wanted his pieces to be publicly viewed and so destroyed many of them, he was very fixated on the perfect athletic bodies, and that he carried a sense of mystery about himself which turned out to make his works more valuable. As for “The Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC” l learned that a movement of realism in art started among Greek culture in that time, at that time there was more of a focus on pottery and not paintings, lastly th...

Module Nine - Art Making/Material Exploration Drawings

1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing? I enjoyed using my hands as the subject I always struggled drawing hands and found this as the perfect opportunity to get some practice in also it was interesting trying to get all the details correct. 2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why? For my medium I used a pencil because I am a bad drawer, so I knew I would make a lot of mistakes and a pencil would be more easy to work with and erase. 3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand? It was a horrible experience, I struggled on every line, curve, shade and little detail I tried to put in, also it felt so unresponsive compared to my dominant hand. 4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies? Yes, they are at least for the one done with my dominant hand the other might be considered a fail. 5. Would you consider using your non-dominant hand to create artwork ...

Module Eight - Blog: Video Reviews

Video Review Video : “More Human Than Human” and “The Measure of All Things: Greek Art and the Human Figures”. 1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.                 The video "The Measure of All Things: Greek Art and the Human Figures” was my first video, I really choses this video because it was the first link I got too work, also after checking the other entries this came up to the smallest run time. The other video was already chosen for me. 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. For the video “The Measure of All Things: Greek Art and the Human Figures” I learned key concepts such as how the Greeks used art to create images/sculptors that show that cultures perspective of self. This also shows how the people of that time compared their bodies and figures to each other and the art that created is a reflection of that idea. The se...

Module 7 - Blog: Video Review

Video: Frank Gehry: Architecture as Art 1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.  There are different concepts that I learned from this video, these concepts ranged from the use of digital models, building using emotion and the fact that an architecture wants all work to be unique. 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? It relates in the fact that Frank Gehry was one of the first to use digital design and manufacturing, he used this instead of sketching like all architects of that time were doing. Both the book and the video talked about him and gave a larger view of his work by focusing on different perspectives. 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture? Unlike the book this I felt gave far more information and a better visual representation of the process and look of using digital design. 4. Why did you choose the films that you watched? I chose this film because I really wa...

Reviewing Peer Responses to Artwork

1. Hyperlink the Blogs you reviewed into your Blog Travis Williams https://travartreflect.blogspot.com/?m=1  Carly Repka http://repkacarly.blogspot.com/2017/09/logo.html 2. When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elements and principles in the images? Yes I did find in both these projects, both of these individuals did a very good job of showing their Elements and Principals, especially Travis. It seem as if he had a lot of experience doing this, not to knock Carly who's picture are very well taken and thought about. 3. When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own? Yes in Travis"s Blog there was the image of the swirling hands, the reasons were different but we both found it interesting. 4. Where th...

Module Six - Blog: Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The video "Through the Eyes of the Sculptor" I learned many different things such as  the fact that different individuals used to work on different parts of a sculpture for different reasons, before doing a project there is prior drawings, modeling and clay work done, and they used bridges for hanging there marble to work on. The video "Glass and Ceramics" thought me that cementation helps add  color to glass art, glass is made fro, heating sand to a extremely high temperature, tempered creates a glass that inst sharp "ie phone screen protector"  and Lead is used to keep glass sharp. 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? The way in which this relates to the is that they describe the ways, aspects, processes and structure of creating different pieces of art which were glass and sculptures. Also that there more elements being put into the creation of these than would be th...
